MUSEUM OF EAST ANGLIAN LIFE
The museums plans will centre on the restoration of Abbot’s Hall (1709) and its surrounding gardens. It will also involve the development of existing displays making them more hand-on and interactive. The museum will also seek to construct a purpose built home for its splendid gypsy traveller material which included some rare examples of traditional bow-topped caravans.
Museum Director Tony Butler says, “This is great news for the museum. Although it does not guarantee that we will be successful with the bigger application, this grant shows that HLF like the sound of our project. The museum has its best chance in years to transform itself into a unique first rate attraction – a place in which everyone East Anglia can be proud.”
